WHAT MAKES OUR PRODUCTS SO UNIQUE?
General Properties of
The Machine Glazed (MG) substrate provides the
basis for a smooth coated
sheet with excellent flexographic and gravure
The fully coated MG sheet has considerable
compressibility which contributes significantly
to flexographic and rotogravure printability as
well as to fold crack resistance. The
Bulkiness also lends itself to excellent
Excellent tear and tensile properties because of
the high quality pulps used, result in excellent
runnability through almost every kind of flexo,
gravure, packaging or labeling equipment
Caliper for caliper the sheet is somewhat more
flexible than supercalendered papers
because of its low density, flexible coatings,
and the absence of starch size surface treatment.
The smooth coated surface is very compatible with
most solvent and aqueous
based inks in flexographic and rotogravure
printing. Trapping, ink and varnish holdout
are usually excellent.
The sheet has a relatively low internal bond
which contributes to its flexibility, fold crack
resistance, general toughness and machine
runnability. However, this very property
could prove to be a problem with high tack
printing processes. Internal bond can be
enhanced to some extent by wet end strength
additives if needed.
Curl is usually not a problem since the backside
of the sheet gets a functional coating which
helps to balance the sheet and stabilize curl.
The products have been used with a variety of
gums, dextrins, synthetic adhesives, cold melts
and hot melts with excellent results.
